Our client is an established manufacturer, supplying into the construction trade for both new build and existing properties via Housing Associations and Major Contractors to name a few. They have invested in modern manufacturing processes and machinery to ensure they remain competitive, with quick turn-around times.
Due to continued success, they are now seeking a Buyer/Estimator to join their small office team in a dual role.
The Job:
As this is a dual role, you will be involved in many aspects of the business. This role is best suited to someone who thrives from a varied workload and responsibilities.
To be successful you will be required to:
* Place orders for materials and products, using SAGE
* Be able to price products based on enquiries using in-house estimating systems
* Project manage from enquiry, through to delivery
Essential Skills:
* Good use of SAGE Sales and Order Processing
* Good use of Microsoft Office (Excel & Outlook)
Desirable skills:
* Ideally applicants will come from a Joinery or Carpentry background with basic knowledge of manufacturing and materials.
Training:
We are pleased to advise that many aspects of this role can be taught, however the essential skills listed above are a minimum criteria.
Hours, Salary & Benefits:
Hours: 8am to 4.30pm – Monday to Friday (30 mins lunch)
Annual salary between £20,000 - £30,000 p/a
20 days annual holiday entitlement + Statutory (8 days) – 3 must be reserved for Xmas shut-down

A well known joinery/interiors contractor based in Northamptonshire are looking for an Estimator to join their team in order to help move their business forward and add value to their existing team. This contractor work within the education, leisure, healthcare and housing sectors working on 1st and 2nd fix joinery/carpentry projects.

* Client presentations & pre/post meetings with professional teams
* Works under the direction of the Chief Estimator.
* Develops specific knowledge of the fields for which responsible, and as required assists in other areas.
* Maintains and enhances knowledge of programming, pricing and competitive market rates.
* Maintains a programme of continual professional development (CPD) through courses and seminars; feeds back to colleagues and manager.
* Ability to offer alternative methods/quotations
* Manage tendering costs including site investigations and tender design work.
* Carries out tender programming to sufficient detail to ensure contractual obligations with regard to time can be met.
* Ensures prices are appropriately informed by programme constraints.
* Ensures all tender documents (including drawings), correspondence, build-ups, allowances etc for successful tenders are copied into handover files
* Ensures that tenders submitted include for agreed margins.
* Undertakes work to achieve targets as determined by the Chief Estimator.
* Ability to improve financial outcome and programming
* Business Development
This role within this division will be reporting directly into the Managing Estimator and Estimating Director and is fundamental to the continued development and growth of one of their core divisions, and as such they are looking to attract the very best in the market. Candidates must come with Estimating experience within the Carpentry / Joinery sector specifically on mid to large commercial and residential schemes.
The salary is negotiable for the right candidate and is dependent on experience.
