Estimator / Senior Estimator
Reinforced Concrete (RC) Frame Contractor - One of the very biggest and best!
About the Employer - Central London Based:
Having been established for over 30 years within the specialist field of concrete frames and groundworks, this business is, without doubt, one of the leading names within this field (literally top 3 name in my opinion). Current turnover is over £150m per annum and they have consistently worked at the cutting edge of the sector to be one of the best at what they do. They currently complete packages ranging in value from £10m up to £100m each on a mixture of residential, commercial, educational, and leisure projects throughout the London area and further around the UK.
This business prides itself on its high repeat business rate and its in-house capability to take complex projects from design through to completion. I would highly recommend this business as a polished environment where individuals can grow and flourish working on some of the best and most iconic projects in and around London and it is worth pointing out, that I have never had anyone leave this business in a short period of time that I have placed there.
This company really does thrive from maintaining relationships both internally and with everyone they work with.
About the Opportunities:
Our client is looking to strengthen their existing preconstruction team by adding an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to their ranks.
The opportunity will involve the usual duties such as putting together tenders for medium to large-scale concrete frame (and associated groundwork) packages in and around London for developers and main contractor within the residential, commercial, educational, industrial, leisure, and other sectors too. Usual package values you will be expected to target could range anywhere from £10m up to £100m and some or all of the following duties will apply:
* Preparation of tender submissions
* Measuring and take-offs from drawings
* Producing bills-of-quantities
* Cost Planning
* Pre and post Contract meetings with clients to sell not only the price but the reason they should pick your business over others too
* Build-up of tender price from first principles based on plans, programme, and scope of works
About the Requirements:
For this opportunity, I am looking for individuals who have previous experience working for RC / Concrete Frame and Groundwork subcontractors in the UK in an estimating capacity.
It is important you have the knowledge of pricing and producing tenders for Concrete Frame and Groundwork packages in and around the South East and London to be considered.
That is it. I’m happy to talk to anyone who has the above.
About the Salary / Remuneration:
Due to the nature of this opportunity, I am looking to target individuals currently earning anywhere from £70,000 to £120,000 per annum.
Salaries will be negotiable at the point of the interview depending on the level of experience you have gained.
With the basic salary, our client offers the usual package of car allowance, pension, bonuses, and similar on a PAYE basis.
How to Apply:
I am more than happy to discuss this opportunity with people over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner. This is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.
Alternatively, it would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to talk and discuss the option.
Either way, my contact details are listed below:

About Me, Your Consultant:
My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 17 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction, and demolition.
So, what does that mean for you? It means you won’t be trusting your career to a rookie salesperson who’s just out to place you wherever he/she can. I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you but can give you up-to-date information on each of them (the good parts and the less positive parts – none of them are perfect, but some are pretty close), helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward. I’ve been doing this for a fair while now and I’ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don’t tell people false truths. I tell them everything I know and then let them choose. My job is to get you the options you want, give you the information you need, and then let you decide what feels right for you

Contracts Manager
RC Frame & Groundworks Subcontractor
London Projects
£90,000 - £130,000 + Package
About the Company
Established over 25 years ago, this £120 million turnover business specialises in Concrete Frames, Groundworks and Basement Construction. With satellite offices in the South West and the Midlands they have a strong coverage of projects with package values ranging from £5 million up to £35 million each (currently), covering the residential, commercial, leisure and education sectors. We have been preferred suppliers to this company for over 10 years and maintain a strong relationship with all the directors of the business.
The MD takes an active role in the safety department making sure it is at the forefront of everything they do, not only to please clients but most importantly to make sure every person goes home safely at the end of every day. He is proud to stand by their safety record and the constant measures they take to maintain and improve this department.
In addition to safety, the focus on rewarding their staff is demonstrated in the constant career development that is offered and the targeted bonus structures that are in place for all the management and commercial teams. For instance, the project management bonus is several thousand pound and is paid twice a year. This is measured on a quarterly basis based on certain key performance indicators such as safety, programme deadlines and commercial statistics. This gives each PM a real gauge of what they have to do to earn each bonus and it is worth pointing out, every PM is hitting above 85% of their bonus which in turn equates to the contracts manager overseeing these projects receiving their bonus as well. This is a simple example of how targeted clear reward structures benefit the individual but also the company as a whole.
About the Opportunity
We have been asked to recruit a Contracts Manager for this company. The role will include the usual duties associated with managing a selection of live projects (usually between 3-5 schemes at different stages of completion), while reporting to the company directors (primarily the operations director and MD).
Day to day duties will include overseeing individual site teams, which will be headed up with project managers and site managers, making sure they are reporting any potential risks or issues, are staying on time / programme whilst also maintaining costs. This role will also be client facing as you will be expected to liaise with clients on each project to represent the company, making sure client’s specifications are being met and they are happy from the preconstruction phase all the way through to delivery.
The locations of projects this role will oversee will mainly be based inside London, but depending on where the successful applicant is based (i.e. where you live), there may also be the possibility of some projects in the surrounding home counties, so the successful individual will need to manage their time working around this area across a maximum of 5 jobs at any one time.
This exciting opportunity is to head-up the sub & superstructure side of the business so individuals need to be very experienced in this aspect as our client is only looking to consider applicants from a civil engineering background so that a strong technical understanding is there when interacting with direct staff and client contacts.
About the Benefits and Rewards
The basic salary offered for this position is £90,000 - £130,000 per annum depending on the level of exposure in this sector, especially experience with superstructure engineering. To add to this, a strong bonus scheme and benefits package will also be included for the successful individual. These package details will be discussed at interview / offer stage.

Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor x 23
Concrete Frame & Groundwork Subcontractors
Salaries / Rates on Offer:
£70,000 to £100,000 per annum + car allowance + bonus + benefits (PAYE)
OR
£300 to £450 per day + expenses + bonus (Self Employed)
About the Opportunities:
I have been asked to look for Quantity Surveyors / Senior Quantity Surveyors for 23 different well-respected Concrete Frame and Groundwork subcontractors based in and around London / South East.
If interested, I am happy to divulge company names and details when we first speak to establish if you want to progress or not.
What I can say is these options vary from £40m turnover subcontractors, to £200m+ turnover subcontractors, so there is a variety of sized organisations to consider, all with a variety of career options to offer and all have specifically approached me to find them people.
Each opportunity will involve the usual surveying duties (i.e., taking projects from start to final account making sure budgets are maintained and profit levels are maximised while reporting any necessary changes) on reinforced concrete (RC) frame and associated groundwork packages for a mixture of residential and commercial clients.
Each opportunity will report to the company’s commercial director and you will be responsible for anywhere from 1 to 5 live packages at any one time (depending on your level of experience and the individual package sizes). Package values for each of these contractors range from £3m up to £50m each (with the majority being between £5m to £25m each) and all are in or around London.
Office Locations – 23 positions available:
* Hertfordshire x 6
* North West and West London x 6
* North London x 2
* East London x 2
* Surrey x 2
* Kent x 2
* Essex x 3
About the Requirements:
The requirements for these opportunities are fairly straightforward;
I can only consider individuals who have worked as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for either Groundwork or Concrete Frame subcontractors/principal contractors in the UK. My clients have been fairly specific on this point.
Based on the locations, these roles would suit individuals based in or around London, and while some office locations will suit you more than others, it is worth noting, at least two of these positions offer remote working and the rest will all involve a certain amount of autonomy as you will be responsible for managing your own diary to get around your own site locations.
And due to the technical nature of these opportunities, it is also crucial that all applicants are degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
About the Benefits & Rewards:
For the right professionals our clients are looking to offer market leading packages including a strong starting salary or day rate with added benefits.
If PAYE you can expect a starting salary ranging from £70,000 to £100,000 depending on your experience, plus a car allowance, full benefits and targeted related bonuses.
If self-employed, day rates range roughly from around £300 to £450 per day (depending on your experience) and you will be covered for travel costs and you will also be given project related bonuses.
About Me, Your Consultant:
My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 17 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction and demolition.
So, what does that mean for you? It means, I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you, but I can give you up to date information on each of them, helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward.
I’ve been doing this for a while now and I’ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don’t tell people false truths, I tell them everything I know and then let them choose. My job is simply to get you the options, give you the information and then let you decide what feels right for you.
How to Apply:
I am more than happy to discuss these opportunities with you over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner (you can get to know me while I get to know you). And I know this is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.
It would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR laws, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to discuss options.

Senior Quantity Surveyor
RC Frame & Groundwork Packages – East London
£70,000 to £90,000 plus car allowance, bonus and benefits (or £325 to £400 per day)
About the Opportunity:
We have been asked to look for a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor for one of our leading Concrete Frame and Groundwork subcontractors based in East London.
This opportunity will involve the usual surveying duties (i.e. taking projects from start to final account making sure budgets are maintained and profit levels are maximised while reporting any necessary changes) on reinforced concrete (RC) frame and associated groundwork packages.
This opportunity will report to the company’s commercial director and you will be responsible for 3-5 live packages at any one time. Package values usually range from £3m up to £15m each and all are in and around East London.
About the Requirements:
The requirements for this role are fairly straightforward;
We can only consider individuals who have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for either Groundwork or Concrete Frame subcontractors in the UK. Our client only wants to consider individuals from a rival subcontractor background.
Based on the location, this role would suit someone based in or around London who can commute on a daily basis into and around East London.
And due to the technical nature of this role, it is also crucial that all applicants are degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
About the Employer:
Currently operating with a turnover of around £50 million per annum, this privately-owned specialist concrete frame and groundwork subcontractor build packages ranging from £1m up to £15 million each. They have become preferred supplies to a number of top-tier residential main contractors and developers, such as Kier, Telford Homes, Osborne, Barratt Homes and Hill Partnerships, with the majority of their projects being inside the M25 and in and around East London predominantly.
This business has a very good reputation in the market with both its clients and with rivals. They maintain a quality approach to everything they do while partnering with businesses rather than fighting them. They have a low staff turnover and an inner core of staff that really work well together as a team. And like many others, they are still growing and looking at ways to expand what they already do, while keeping growth at a considered rate.
On a side note, to back up the relationship the MD of the business has with his inner core, most years the team are known to go on skiing holidays and similar together. Not only to grab some well-earned recuperation time but also to help them forge as a team at the centre of the business. This company really does thrive from maintaining relationships both internally and with everyone they work with.
About the Benefits & Rewards:
For the right professional, our client is looking to offer a market-leading package including a strong starting salary or rate with added benefits.
If PAYE paid you can expect a starting salary ranging from £70,000 to £90,000 depending on your experience, plus a car allowance, full benefits and a targeted results-related bonus.
If self-employed, day rates range from around £325 to £400 per day can be considered (depending on experience) and you will be covered for travel costs and you will also be given project-related bonuses.
About your Consultant (me):
My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the directors here at Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 15 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment. During this time, I have specialised in the niche sector of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction and demolition and will work with you through this process.
Q: What does this mean for you?
A: I have connections with pretty much every company in this field. I can offer you options with a variety of the best employers in this market. In addition to this, I have in-depth knowledge of each of these employers. I can tell you all about their setups, projects, future plans and what they can offer you as an individual moving forward.
I am always open to having confidential conversations with individuals interested in expanding their careers. If the right options don’t exist for you right now, we can stay in touch. If, however, we have companies that could be ideal for you; I can tell you all about them.
How to Apply:
