The Strategic Transportation Team is seeking to recruit an Assistant Engineer - Highways Development to join a small, friendly and busy team working on exciting projects based at the Civic Offices in Bridgend. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in civil engineering, highways transportation or in a related subject or with suitable experience, you will check engineering drawings submitted for developments affecting existing highways and/or involving new roads to be adopted as highways maintainable at public expense, and then progress these to adoption.
Careful attention to detail and logical thinking are essential to fulfil this role. Experience of design or site experience would be beneficial but is not essential; the post may suit a graduate or person looking to change career path. You will be expected to attend site and provide cover for the Highways Development inspector as required.
The successful applicant will need to hold a valid driving licence and will be expected to have a motor vehicle for use on official journeys.
