ROLE SUMMARY
The Senior Superintendent plays an integral role to lead, organize, and manage all project construction teams and is accountable for the safety of all personnel in the field, actively monitoring the project within the approved schedules.
The Senior Superintendent manages all day-to-day project progress, with a focus on but not limited to, Risk Management, Team Leadership, Coaching & Mentoring, and overall Planning. This role reports directly to the General Superintendent and is in frequent communication with key stakeholders such as the subcontractors and site staff.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Site and Team Management
Interpret drawings and specifications to prepare a detailed preliminary plan to execute the project in conjunction with estimating and operations
Follow a detailed construction schedule and track the progress on site
Review the tender/construction schedules and tracks their progress on site
Motivate project teams and all stakeholders to complete their portion of the work safely, on time, and to an acceptable standard of quality
Monitor the progress on-site and initiate any corrective action required to ensure that all major milestone activities are completed on schedule
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with the client, the consultants, the subtrades, and regulatory authorities
Ensure the Project sites are clean, well-organized worksites with required site signage to ensure that a professional image is projected
Enforce SBW and OH&S standards in all aspects of each project

Essential:

Position summary
Key responsibilities for this role include but not are not limited to:
Ensuring there is effective cost management of the project through regular and accurate forecasting and cost/value reporting.
Lead and manage the procurement process to maximise profit and ensure subcontract orders are placed on time and in accordance with the company policy. (including references taken, suitable levels of HSEQ etc)
Monitor and maximise cash flow.
Support, advise, develop and train all members of the site team on commercial matters.
Mentor and develop the surveyors within the specific project team
Be aware of the contractual requirements of the project, advise the site team on key requirements and ensure that all notices and other matters are actioned accordingly to protect our clients contractual position (Main, Sub-Contracts and consultancy agreements)
Act and ensure others are acting in our clients best commercial interests at all times.
To act professionally at all times and promote the our clients best standards and practices
Monitor and chase Main Contract payments

Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
An accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).
Alternatively, a degree with some numerical or technical is advantageous.Relevant HND subjects include building/construction, urban and land studies, civil engineering and structural engineering.
Adequate experience as an Assistant QS/QS.
Knowledge of the tendering process
Knowledge of the various forms of contract used across the industry
Desirable:
A degree in QS and relevant experience obtained.
Proficiency in administration, writing, numeracy, IT and MS Office
Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external customers

About the Opportunity
As a project engineer on-site, you will be reporting to the project manager / director supporting them with establishing the construction plan and engineering methods in addition to assisting with equipment selection and coordination. You will also be aiding the project director in Pre-construction activities such as selection of Form-work/False work and Core Methodology. As no2 on-site the project engineer will attend progress meetings with the design team to coordinate design and re-bar take off. They will also attend weekly meetings with site QS to track costs and variation work from clients.
In this role you will be tasked with leading and managing a team of site engineers on various tasks including but not limited to: Setting-out, re-bar take-offs, temporary works, QA duties and as-built responsibilities. This is very much an assistant to the project manager level role as Project Engineer.

* Experience within a similar role for a tier 1 contractor.
* HND/Degree qualification
* CSCS Card (relevant type)
* Comprehensive NEC contract experience and demonstrable commercial awareness.

THE ROLE
* Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
* Preparation of Valuations/Application for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract
* Management of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation
* Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
* Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
* Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers
* Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
* Challenge & manage in cost control / cost mitigation
* Ensure the correct site records are maintained
* Have an up to date Cost to Complete and Risk analysis Register for the projects(s)
* Preparation, negotiation and agreement of change events, extension of time claims, final accounts etc
