IVQT Inspector / Technology Inspector
Location- Between Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire
An opportunity to work on a smart motorway project running till 2022!
My client is currently looking for an IVQT inspector with a technology / electrical background.
You will be working on the M1 Smart Motorway junction 13-16. £373M Major Scheme. Which is aimed at improving the 37.9km (23.6 miles) section of the M1 between junctions 13 and 16 by upgrading it to an All-Lane Running (ALR) smart motorway.
The Role
As IVQT Inspector you will be;
Responsible for monitoring technology activities on site within specified zone / section. This could include; Electrical signage, wiring of cabinets / wiring of motorway lighting / CCTV / Speed Cameras / Fibre Optics and Data
Required to sign off work as complete or acceptable
Experienced at reading technical drawings & specifications and have a thorough understanding of inspection and test plans.
Working as part of a team of 8 inspectors reporting to Senior Inspector and Quality Manager and be responsible for creating, updating and completing reports and spreadsheets on the activities that you have inspected.
Using the Microsoft suite; Outlook, Excel, Word and as such need to have computer skills. The client will train you up on the specific software they use (Field view) for all check sheets and reports
In order to be successful at this position it is imperative that the right person has a wealth of experience in a similar position in order to hit the ground running. (IVQT Inspector / Clerk of Works – Technology bias & Highways )
The role is very much “out in the field” and they will be inspecting the work completed by the sub-contractors on site and as such requires someone who can work collaboratively, has excellent reasoning skills and strong communication skills.

Highway Site Supervisors / Clerk of Works
I am currently recruiting for Highway Site Supervisors / Clerk of Works based working in the West Midlands.
The Highway Site Supervisors / Clerk of Works will assist with the management of site operations (including the fulfilment of the role of Principal Contractor under CDM on Provider Works and undertaking the role of Supervisor on Managed Works) in relation to scheme delivery on
Tasks / Job Requirements:
Reporting to the Site Manager. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
·Assisting with managing and administering the construction works in accordance with the contract.
·Assisting with the implementation of the duties of the Principal Contractor under CDM and/or undertaking the role of the Supervisor under the NEC conditions of contract.
·Assisting with the implementation of the 5 SHE Basics, Training and Competence, Risk Assessment for every task, Induction for every worker, Safe System of Work and Point of Work Risk Assessment are embedded for all works.
·Assisting with the implementation of the Construction Phase Plan including ensuring compliance with the requirements (eg. site inductions and site rules).
·Assisting with ensuring that the construction programme is maintained.
·Checking compliance with the relevant Quality Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Inspection and Test Plans.
·Assisting with the management and control of all site operations including monitoring progress and taking appropriate action to avoid overrun.
·Assisting with ensuring temporary works are installed in accordance with the approved design details.
·Assisting with ensuring appropriate inspection, sampling and testing is carried out to verify compliance. Carrying out quality checks and witnessing and reporting of any non-conformances.
·Carrying out regular Safety, Health and Environmental inspections and reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses.
·Assist with monitoring the performance and operation of contractors. Ensure they are properly instructed in the safe execution of their work and programme requirements. Report on their progress.
·Assisting with the compilation of site records and providing feedback to the Site Manager.
·Assist with the management and co-ordination of network occupancy activities including development of traffic management proposals, road space booking, stakeholder liaison and updating
Individual / Person Requirements:
Essential:
·SSSTS (2 Day CITB Site Supervisor's Safety Training Scheme).
·Experience in the delivery of the Principal Contractor's obligations under the CDM Regulations 2015 and role of the Supervisor under the NEC.
·Experience in the successful delivery of highway renewals and improvement schemes involving restricted site availability (eg. night-time working).
·Experienced in the successful delivery of construction projects to tight time and budget constraints.
·Structures, roads and technology scheme experience.
·Problem solving skills.
·Commitment and adaptability.
·Drive and determination.
·Positive attitude to the delivery of schemes through collaborative working in a partnering environment.
Desirable:
·Qualified to ONC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
·CSCS (Supervisory) Card.
·Institute of Clerks of Works & Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI).
·Experience of working for a major contractor at General Foreman level or above.
·First Aid Certificate.
·Temporary Works Supervisor Certificate.
·Fire Safety Co-ordinator/Marshal Certificate.
·Knowledge of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).

This is a flexible bank staff, zero hours role. Hours will vary, based on the amount of available work/projects.
The Environment, Transport & Infrastructure (ETI) directorate is responsible for a wide range of services including highways, transport, planning, countryside and waste management. These services are critical for people living, working and travelling through Surrey, delivered by the county council or in partnership.
The Countryside Access Team is within the ETI directorate. The team is responsible for looking after 2,000 miles of public paths. We would like to recruit a Countryside Access Officer to assist with the delivery of walking and cycling improvement projects.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic self-starter with relevant practical experience and a good understanding of a clerk of works role. The successful candidate will be able to draw up specifications and supervise contractors to successfully deliver a range of path improvement projects. They will have good organisational and people skills.
Other Requirements:
Ability to drive or otherwise visit inaccessible locations, sometimes at short notice, therefore access to a car and a valid driving license will be required.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather and sometimes in difficult terrain.
Willingness to work in Work style accommodation with open space offices and no fixed desk, etc.
Ability to work weekends and evenings occasionally.
