The role;

Reviewing and approving the fortnightly sub-contractor payments
Day to day Contract Administration including variations, applications for payment and notices
Liaising with the Finance department on a weekly basis and providing the business with up to date information on payments, overdue debt and retention
Identifying commercial risks and potential solutions and highlighting them to the relevant members of the project team and/or Senior Management
Competing monthly cost reports, presenting them to the wider business and Senior Management team and proposing actions to improve performance where possible
Ensuring the continuous development of the Assistant and Quantity Surveyors
Maintaining close dialogue with the Construction team to determine site progress and other site related issues

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor it is important that the Quantity Surveyor possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills as they will be required to build long term client relationships. They will also be responsible for assisting with the day to day management of the wider Commercial team which includes coaching and developing the Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Working within cross functional teams, to deliver projects to the correct price and specification, on or ahead of programme and on or under budget.
Completing the pre-construction activities and ensuring that projects are setup on the ERP system in accordance with the contract documents and within the required lead in period
Maintaining a full and detailed command of the project brief, including the build methodology, scope of works, programme and costs
Preparing and issuing Sub-contract tenders and working alongside the Contract Managers to negotiate and place Sub-contract orders
Reviewing and approving the fortnightly sub-contractor payments
Day to day Contract Administration including variations, applications for payment and notices
Liaising with the Finance department on a weekly basis and providing the business with up to date information on payments, overdue debt and retention
Identifying commercial risks and potential solutions and highlighting them to the relevant members of the project team and/or Senior Management
Competing monthly cost reports, presenting them to the wider business and Senior Management team and proposing actions to improve performance where possible
Ensuring the continuous development of the Assistant and Quantity Surveyors
Maintaining close dialogue with the Construction team to determine site progress and other site related issues
Assisting with the day to day management of the Commercial department, reporting on project and individual performance and maintaining accountability for all allocated projects or clients

A Managing Quantity Surveyor is a very experienced QS who manages all costs relating on a large building and civil engineering projects or on a number of smaller ones
What you'll be doing
As a/an Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will have the following accountabilities:
* Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Companys GMCEs, BMS and other governance Business and Customer Awareness
* Ability to mitigate potentially damaging situations
* Communicate the good things Cost Engineering
* Applies principles of cost management & elemental cost analysis including life cycle implications where required
* Recognises and understands cost sensitive areas Estimating
* Undertakes risk analysis in the context of construction
* Manage the preparation of Target Costs Planning
* Reviews progress of the project against the various programmes
* Preparation of delay and disruption programmes
* Monitors & controls critical elements of the process
* Identifies & communicates threats to budget & programme
* Report and explain the commercial progress to senior project staff
* Cost Planning and pre-contract cost control
* Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility
* Evaluate and negotiate tenders including Subcontractors and suppliers
* Assess and identify risks and opportunities as part of risk management
* Manages customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility
* Advising and contractual matters and formulating correspondence
* Undertakes benchmarking exercises & sets / monitors Performance indicators (KPI)
* Manages recruitment of lower grades up to QS
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
* Initial calculations to the final figures
* Significant experience in minimising the costs of a project and enhancing value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.
* Will have a track record of managing a commercial team
* A Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB,
* Act as a mentor to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.

Construction Site Administrator
We have several exciting new opportunities at PCE for a number of Construction Site Administrators to join our project team based at our Full Sutton project in York.
The Construction Site Administrators will support the respective project teams by delivering site office coordination and administrative duties at project level, to assist in the smooth and efficient running of the site office. They will ensure that documentation is current and up to date and compliant with PCE’s Asite filing structure manual under the direction of Project Manager / Strategic Development Manager. This role is key to the smooth and efficient running of our project sites.

* Compile and upload all site safety weekly paperwork to Project Document Management System (Asite)
* Conduct audits of Project Document Management System (Asite) to ensure it is utilised by the project team and in line with the Asite Filing Structure Manual
Project Administration
* Populate the Project Status Schedule with information from the Daily Diaries. Led by Senior Quantity Surveyor
* Supporting on addendums to Method Statements
* Compiling and distributing weekly site operations check sheets (safety paperwork)
* Participate and support the project teams in project and programme planning and progress meetings. Take meeting minutes where required
General Administration
* Maintain the site office notice board
* Maintain stock of all project office equipment, office consumables and site-wide PPE ensuring relevant handover documents are signed and returned
* Conduct site visitor inductions
* Manage all site IT equipment and phones. Supported by the Business Support Team
* Liaise with the HR and Training Administrator on the management of Site Operatives certification
* Management of site personnel accommodation
* Book meeting rooms, organise refreshments, site passes, and parking where required
* Co-ordinating and administering the project Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manual
