Head of Land – Bristol, South West region Head of Land - About the role Reporting to the Managing Director, to contribute to the overall success of the business by acquiring and securing land at the optimum price, to support the attainment of targets for the Division and Region. Working closely with the MD and Management Team, ensuring that land purchased takes all business variables into account. Head of Land - About you? * Demonstrable effective experience of working, in a similar role at a senior position * Proven track record across the region * Knowledge and use of business contacts, land owners and speculators, and key players in relevant organisations, e.g. English Estates, Housing Associations, Environmental organisations * Individual who is ideally qualified to degree standard in a relevant subject, e.g. Planning, Property Surveying, Technical Engineering, and with membership of a Professional Institute * Good technical knowledge and awareness of other disciplines of the business particularly in relation to Sales and Commercial/Technical matters. * Some legal knowledge to facilitate work in relation to planning approvals and acquisition/securing of land * A lateral and innovative thinker, an original problem-solver. They have many different divisions including interior design & fit out, commercial refurbishments and new build developments. The successful Estimator should expect to join a busy team where there will be plenty of variety regarding the projects being operated on. The company have over 100 full time employees and ensure employee retention is key to company growth. This estimating position have become available as the workload has increased so are hoping for an Estimator to have at least two years’ experience allowing the successful individual to really hit the ground running. This is an exciting opportunity for an Estimator to join a company where there is a strong element of support available where each day will bring a range of duties to ensure an Estimator feels fulfilled in the company. An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Bristol Asbestos Branch for an experienced Junior Contracts Manager to support in the contract manager of an experienced team of removers; You will need to identify and manage some elements of the technical aspects of the removal process, learning to effectively price projects, develop a team and assist with the growth of the business. Main Duties: * Liaison with clients, site visit for assessment and preparation of quotations * Assisting to identify, win and develop new client accounts and maintain the highest standard of service for the existing client base * Preparation of site-specific risk assessments and detailed method statements ensuring compliance with HSE regulations. Convey the information contained within the site-specific risk assessment/method statement to site personnel to ensure full understanding * Programme works and resources to ensure client and company needs are met * Oversee work carried out by removal teams to ensure the highest standard of workmanship is being achieved * Responsible for creating clear and accurate job files ensuring all relevant paperwork is contained before submitting for archiving * Take all reasonable steps to ensure health and safety and welfare at work. You are required to gain an understanding of the Company’s health and safety procedures, observe them and enforce them, and ensure that safety equipment and clothing are fit for the purpose and always used. Carry out regular health and safety checks, including site audits * Maintain a strong working relationship with customers and suppliers at all times * Ensure sub-contract companies and labour are competent in the tasks that are required of them Qualifications and experience: * Evidence some supervisorary or management experience, and display good all-round interpersonal skills as well as leadership and people management skills. Our client is a well known and well established multi disciplined main contractor with a regional base in Bristol that carries out a range of new build residential construction projects up to £20 million typically. Due to ongoing growth throughout the region they have secured a £8m design & build care home and approached us with the requirement to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join them on a permanent basis. Reporting to a Commercial Manager regionally, your role will involve having complete financial control, ensuring that schemes are delivered profitably.
